Job Tasks and Duties:
1. Set goals to achieve the purpose of the subject being taught and the school’s vision and mission.
2. Use interactive discussions and ‘hands-on’ learning.
3. Guide and help learners apply and learn concepts in the subjects they are taught, whether core or non-core subjects.
4. Move away from traditional methods and repetitive drill approaches for memorization and teaching.
5. Help children work in groups, understand abstract concepts, implement problem-solving techniques and develop critical thought processes.
6. Prepare learners as future leaders: help learners interact with their colleagues, adapt to new technology and logically think through problems.
7. Make use of various techniques for teachers, including films, slide shows, interactive games using latest technology including overhead projectors, computers, tablets, smartboards and the Web. Educators are required to constantly remain up-to-date with state-of-the-art technological advances so they can make use of it in the classroom as much as possible.
8. Use computers to record grades, perform other administrative clerical duties and design classroom presentations to meet learners’ needs and abilities.
9. Establish rapport with a diverse learner population from varied ethnic, racial and religious backgrounds.
10. Work with learners according to their individual needs; listen to oral presentations, observe and evaluate learners’ performance and potential.
11. Provide additional assistance in areas where a learner needs help and pursue new assessment methods where required.
12. Plan, evaluate and assign lessons, prepare, administer and grade tests and prepare report cards and meet with parents
13. Meet with the Head of Department on a weekly basis to discuss curriculum, weekly plans and learners’ academic program or personal problems.
